AACN Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments
In 2001, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) made a commitment to actively promote the creation of healthy work environments that support and foster excellence in patient care wherever acute and critical care nurses practice.
AACN Preparing a Culturally Competent Nursing Workforce
Supported by The California Endowment.
Through this effort, AACN developed a set of cultural competencies for baccalaureate nursing students and a toolkit for faculty to incorporate this work into lectures and clinical practicums. They integrated these competencies into the new standards now under development for baccalaureate level nursing programs. The online faculty toolkit, as well as these competencies developed through this project, are posted on the AACN Web site above.
